An Apron for Amy!

I’ve occasionally mentioned my coworker Amy, who I love more than ice cream, which is saying quite a lot. Basically, I get to go to work every day with my best friend. How lucky am I?

For Christmas, I decided to make her an apron. Amy’s DNA is made of glitter, unicorns, and a bucket of happiness and rainbows, so when we went to Joann’s, I wasn’t surprised when she picked out this fantastic flowery fabric, perfect for wearing while she’s making Rice Krispie Treats of Joy and Sunshine, or whatever else comes out of her kitchen.

I used a pattern from Butterick, which overall was fairly easy to make, though bias tape and I have a sketchy relationship we need to work on (bias tape + rounded inside corners = wtf?).

I think it turned out great (way better than these awful cell phone photos would suggest!), and she’s way happy about it! She danced around the office, saying how much she wished she had a mixing bowl just to complete the look.

  1. Beautiful, even on the “awful cell phone photos.”

  2. I think it’s missing some well-place large flowers . . .

  3. I think the apron is really pretty, even if it is from the cell phone. thumbs up….

  4. the bows turned out really cute!

  5. I think this was a well-designed strategy to get more baked goods for yourself. Well played.

Also, I will mention it — it bothers me that the plural of “food” does not end in an “s”, like books, crafts and ninjas.

  6. Oooh I like reads. And donuts. Can donuts be both a noun and a verb, because if so, I’ve found my new tagline.
