Songs about kindness are slim-pickings (at least songs I actually like), but I did find one that I’m now in love with: “Small Rebellions” by Jars of Clay. The lyrics speak of “senseless brutal acts of kindness” — acts of kindnesses that make us uncomfortable and may make no sense, but show compassion and mercy and drive out fear. Such an interesting way of thinking about kindness.
I’m gifting three iTunes downloads for three lucky winners. Fill in the form below for your chance to win. The giveaway starts today (August 12) and will run until the evening of August 15, when I’ll announce the winners and email them the download code. “Small Rebellions” — Jars of Clay
God of the break and shatter
Hearts in every form still matter
In our weakness help us see
That alone we’ll never be
Lifting any burdens off our shoulders
If our days could be filled with small rebellions
Senseless brutal acts of kindness from us all
If we stand between the fear and firm foundation
Push against the current and the fall, the current and the fall
God of the worn and tattered
All of your people matter
Give us more than words to speak
‘Cause we are hearts and arms that reach
And Love climbs up and down the human ladder
If our days could be filled with small rebellions
Senseless brutal acts of kindness from us all
If we stand between the fear and firm foundation
Push against the current and the fall, the current and the fall
We will never walk alone again
No, we will never walk alone again
No, we will never walk alone again
