Sewing Summit is in just a few weeks (!!!!), and I’m joining the a Pretty Little Zippered Pouch Swap. Never you mind that I’ve never made a zippered pouch before! I’ve only installed one zipper, and it wasn’t exactly…pretty. Functional, yes. Pretty, notsomuch. Thank goodness it was on the inside of the purse I was making.
So I decided to make a pouch for practice, just to make sure I’d be able to do one for the swap.
I found Anna’s pattern over at her wonderful (and useful!) site Noodle-Head. I had picked up a FQ bundle of Lotta Jansdotter’s newest line Bella, which I seriously cannot get enough of — it’s just fantastic:
I picked some of the yellows and grays, and made this adorable little gathered clutch, complete with interior card pockets.
And an orange zipper! Because orange! And I didn’t fail at the zipper, which gets a rousing “huzzah!!” from me.
The pattern went together fairly easily, and it was my first time working with Pellon’s fusible fleece (which was awesomesauce). I had a little difficulty getting the lining and pockets to fit inside the finished bag, so I went back and trimmed off a quarter-inch so it would all fit together a little better. I am so in love with the color combos here — the yellow is so deep and citron-y. Fabulous.
Even better, Anna allows other people to make and sell her patterns — so if you want a little gathered clutch of your own, just let me know and we can discuss pricing and colors!

this is super snazzy! love the colors. it shouts happy.
Wow, you did a great job. Orange zipper is a win. Looks like you are a zipper pro! I also am not a huge fan of zippers but have come to an ok understanding with them. So wish I had some Bella- still hoarding my Echo for quilt.
These are great gifts. I made one from a similar tutorial for a friend, and she loves it and uses it all the time.
Friends should be expecting similar gifts this year :)
