This week, we signed up for our Sewing Summit classes. I had a list of four workshops and four lectures that I wanted to attend (really, I wanted to attend THEM ALL but Hermoine wouldn’t give me her time-turner), with a bunch of really great back-ups in case the classes were sold out.
Thankfully, I had no hiccups in my registering process, so I managed to get all the classes that I wanted (I think it helped that I wanted four lectures and each of those classes hold 200 people!). I know there were people that missed out on some of the classes they wanted to take, but so many of the amazing teachers have offered late night impromptu classes — this is just a phenomenal group of women (and a handful of very, very brave men!). I may track down some of the teachers to do a little English paper piecing, embroidery, and zippers.
Here’s what I’m taking:
Shapes & Angles with Faith and Kati
Foundation Paper Piecing with Lee and Elizabeth
Photography with Vanessa
Idea Pouch with Michelle
Website Design with Melissa
Finishing Details with Anna
Curve Mini Quilt with Christina
Fabric Design with Thomas
I don’t think words can accurately describe how excited I am! I am also looking forward to finally meeting old friends (I’ve been blogging with Sewing Summit co-founder Erin for years — she’s one of the few former Voxers I haven’t actually met yet) and new (Rebecca and Janice are both from the greater Sacramento area and Sewing Summit has brought us together!). I can’t wait for the dinners, the open sewing time, the swag, the Shop Hop, the learning — it’s going to be so (sew!) great!
I have a few projects to complete before I go — another zippered pouch for a swap, a larger tote to carry around during classes, my name tag, and maybe one or two small things to wear. It’s not like I have a lot going on — just a full-time job, Tough Mudder, karate, a friend’s wedding, book club, volunteering, sewing projects for friends, SMQG meetings, several other random meetings, church, birthday dinners — I can totally do it. Right? *looks skeptical*
Is it October 11 yet?

I can’t believe you’ve got all that going on and your head hasn’t exploded yet! Here I am lamenting that I still have to work my job and try to figure out how to do everything I want to do for SS. You put me to shame. Oh, and I volunteered to make bunting for the social on Friday night. I’ve never even made bunting before!
Bunting! I love making bunting. This tutorial is great: http://www.yourhomebasedmom.com/fabric-pendant-banner-tutorial/
