Mini Pac-Man Pixel Quilt

A while back, I held a contest to like Let’s Eat Grandpa on Facebook, and my good friend Robert won. His prize was a mug rug made especially for him. Robert and I have been friends for, gosh, maybe 14 years, so I definitely know him pretty well. I decided to make him a totally geeked-out 80s mug rug, because I knew he’d love it. Because of the nature of the project, though, it ended up being much larger than a mug rug — 18″ x 18″. So he got an awesome wall hanging instead:

I made this little pixel quilt using 1″ squares to create the blue ghost (I later learned his name is Inky) from the Pac-Man arcade game. I really love how he turned out, and I can almost see him scooting along, chasing after Pac-Man. He’s quilted with diagonal straight lines, bound with some polka dot fabric, and backed in soft blue flannel. I’d love to do a set of similar pillows someday, with all three ghosts and Pac-Man himself!
