A short one today. Feeling a little under the weather — hoping it’s nothing, but only time will tell.
What does getting something done have to do with faithfulness? Well, for me, it seems like a big part of being faithful is keeping your word. And when I’ve promised to do something that is less-than-fun, I tend to put it off in favor of things that are easier, more entertaining, etc. So what have I been putting off for a while?
Tithing. I tithe…most months. I’m sporadic, and that has always bothered me. Sometimes I miss church and forget. Sometimes I don’t have my checkbook. So I manage to tithe about nine out of the twelve months out of the year. But I really want to make sure I’m supporting my church, my spiritual home, the place offers refueling each week.
So I went ahead and set up an automatic payment for my tithe each month. I’ve been meaning to sign up for automatic tithing for a while (like, for two years, ever since they started the program at church), but I just keep putting it off. Automatic tithing may seem like the easy way out to some people, but it works for me. In an act of faithfulness to God and to my church, I have finally signed up!
