My best friend Amy is getting married in April, and her wedding is going to be themed like a carnival. Everything she’s planning is super cute — cotton candy, midway games, donuts, and pinwheels. It’s going to be so much fun! She asked me to make some teal and red carnival wedding pennants to add to the festivities, and of course I was happy to oblige.

Julie, over at the incomparable Intrepid Thread, put together a too-cute bundle of red and teal fabrics, which will match Amy’s decor perfectly. I used The Maths to figure out the measurements — the flags are about nine inches tall — and used red bias tape to connect them. It’s actually a fairly easy project because the flags are just top-stitched wrong sides together, giving them a fun, scrappy feel.

These flags will grace some of the gazebos and tables at the ceremony. I actually made several more strands that aren’t pictured here, so she has a lot of options. I think there are 48 feet of pennants! I’m planning on offering customized pennants in my Etsy shop — look for them soon!

Adorable Pennants and you did a terrific job. I think it’s a wonderful idea for a wedding or any special occaision.

Thanks Judy!
I love these! I just made pennants but I sewed them wrong sides together and flipped them out. Your way is much quicker and looks just as cute! I will have to keep that in mind for next time.

I thought about doing it that way, and then realized it would be a lot quicker and possibly neater to do it wrong sides together. :)
I looooove them!! Thank you!!! They are so perfect!!
You’re welcome! I’m so glad you love them!!
