Even though I posted about our entire wedding, I’d still light to highlight some of the individual things we did. I already talked about our wedding streamers and our wedding buttons — this time we’re talking yummy s’mores! The beautiful photography is thanks to our amazing photographer, Jessica Stout. And let’s be real — I just wanted more opportunities to show off our gorgeous photography.
When we were touring our wedding venue for the first time, we both saw a fire-put sitting at the edge of the patio. And about ten seconds later, we decided the wedding needed s’mores. What’s better than roasting a gooey marshmallow over an open fire? Not much! We thought the s’mores would also help us complete the campy feel we were going for.
And roasting s’mores in your fancy duds? Even better! Looking good, best man. Looking good.
This was a super easy detail to add to our wedding, and was actually the one thing I was doing last-minute. My bridesmaid Brittney and I stuffed the little s’mores packets the night before we headed to the wedding venue. We put the chocolate between the graham crackers, just in case it got melty.
The bags are by Wilton and you can find them at Michael’s or JoAnn. I used regular old Honey Maid graham crackers, Jet Puff marshmallows, and Hershey’s milk chocolate. I had the idea to make my own marshmallows, but we ran out of time. Oh well!
We sealed the bags with stickers I designed and had printed through moo.com. They said things like “They have s’mores, yall!” and “Everyone need’s s’more love” and “The s’more the merrier.”
We put the s’more packs in a galvanized bucket, and stuck the s’mores skewers in the bucket — no need to get complicated!
The s’mores were one of my favorite parts of the wedding, even though I am only making ridiculous faces in the photos. But what woman can be expected to look perfect while stuffing gooey marshmallow goodness in her face? I’m totally looking at that s’more like its lifespan is about to be abruptly cut short.
We had a friend look over the firepit for the evening, just to make sure we didn’t start a forest fire, and we had both a bucket of water and a fire extinguisher handy. Thankfully, the fire remained contained in the firepit!
Om nom! Look for more wedding detail posts coming soon!
